Off the Ground is the ninth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in 1993. As his first studio album of the 1990s, it is also the follow-up to the well-received Flowers in the Dirt (1989). After planning another world tour, The New World Tour, in 1993, to promote the album, McCartney chose to record Off the Ground with his touring band. Blair Cunningham joined on drums to replace Chris Whitten, who left to join Dire Straits.

Off The Ground was originally released in February1993, and in December of that year it was re-released with a second CD of extra tracks, including ‘Long Leather Coat’, ‘Keep Coming Back To Love’, ‘Sweet Sweet Memories’, ‘Things We Said Today’, ‘Midnight Special’, ‘Style Style’, ‘I Can't Imagine’, ‘Cosmically Conscious’, ‘Kicked Around No More’, ‘Big Boys Bickering’, ‘Down To The River’ and ‘Soggy Noodle’. McCartney & George Martin; conducted by George Martin Produced by Paul McCartney and Julian Mendelsohn except CD2 tracks 4 & 5 produced by Paul McCartney. Engineered by Bob Kraushaar except CD2 tracks 4 & 5 by Geoff Emerick, CD2 track 12 by Eddie Klein.
Given the tour's enthusiastic reception, McCartney could wait until 1993 to deliver the album's proper sequel, Off the Ground. Though it isn't as consciously ambitious, Off the Ground certainly picks up where Flowers left off, as McCartney feels no shame in making an album that doesn't aim for the charts (though success would certainly be welcomed), yet is still classy, professional, and ambitious.

Off the Ground is an album by Paul McCartney, released in 1993. As his first studio album of the 1990s, it is also the follow-up to the acclaimed Flowers in the Dirt from 1989, and bears many similarities with its predecessor. Recording and structure. While "Hope of Deliverance" floundered there, it managed to reach in the UK, where "C'Mon People" would become a minor hit as well. Worldwide positions for the album were generally good but that was mainly because Off the Ground was released during the very poorly competitive post-Christmas season
Paul McCartney released 'Off the Ground' on February 1, 1993. For the new record he chose to co-produce with Julian Mendelsohn, cutting the tracks live in the studio with his touring band instead of using studio musicians and piecing tracks together through overdubbing.
