Not long after Island had disposed of his contract, Kevin Ayers hooked up with Harvest once again, releasing the mainstream-sounding Yes We Have No Mañanas in 1976. Although Ayers' symbolic banana references find their way into the title (the banana being his outlet for representing silliness in such a serious world ), the ten tracks find him singing some rather conventional pop/rock.
Sweet Deceiver is the sixth studio album by Kevin Ayers and his last for Island Records. It is one of Ayers’ more rock-oriented productions, with the first side featuring the progressive material, while the second was more mainstream. Guitarist Ollie Halsall was now a key foil for Ayers and his playing on the opening track Observations is a clear demonstration of his dexterity.
Rainbow Takeaway is the eighth studio album by Kevin Ayers. The core band is essentially the same as its predecessor, Yes We Have No Mañanas (So Get Your Mañanas Today).

Studio album by Kevin Ayers. This LP marked Kevin Ayers' return to the leftfield Harvest label. Producer Muff Winwood employed a straightforward pop production that clipped some of Ayers’ usual eccentricities from the tapes but gave the set a direct and focused impact. The songs fall into to two thematic groups; tales of love and loss (‘Love's Gonna Turn You Round’ and ‘Falling In Love Again’) coupled with sly digs at a music industry with which Ayers is clearly becoming disenchanted (‘Ballad of Mr. Snake’ and ‘Mr Cool’).
However, KEVIN AYERS would prove us, he was still capable of composing absolute great songs like the last 2 from this album YES I DO and the gorgeous BLUE. These 2 songs can be seen as one as YES I DO is the perfect introduction to BLUE, a perfect piano-led BALLAD with tender vocals. YES WE HAVE NO MANANAS is not necessary listening, especially from a prog standpoint but nevertheless a good album to enjoy, surprisingly well balanced for an AYERS recording.
