Transmission is the fourth album recorded by the Canadian band The Tea Party, released in 1997. The band expanded on the mix of rock, blues and world music found in their previous albums by adding electronic instruments and recording techniques to their repertoire. While still using several exotic instruments and maintaining the "eastern" influence in the recording, many songs also include samples, sequencers and loops alongside the traditional acoustic instruments.

As such, it makes sense that The Tea Party would create an album to culminate all aspects of their style, into a disorganized but organized frenzy. The Indian and Arabic scale are still used often, and middle-eastern instruments are still occasionally in play, but the effect is less dominant in comparison to previous albums. The band members are still enticed by the mystical and obscure
Swirling out of the Canadian north, the Tea Party swoops down on you like a blizzard, and Transmission sounds like it's at the center of the storm. Sounding a lot like a Nine Inch Nails of the north, the Tea Party pulses and grooves along with such cuts as "Temptation," "Army Ants" and the title tune. This trio manages to come up with just enough hooks to keep the listening interesting without sacrificing their sound
Transmission I think I hear it, man. Tell me what I have when it all slips away Tell me what I see when the light fades away You tell me what I hold in the palm of my hands Tell me what I feel 'cause I'm trying to understand.
