As I Lay Dying/American Tragedy is a split album by the two metalcore bands As I Lay Dying and American Tragedy released in 2002 through Pluto Records. As I Lay Dying has since re-released its half of the album through Metal Blade Records. Their compilation album A Long March: The First Recordings also features the original and re-recorded tracks from the split album. Tracks 1 through 5 are performed by As I Lay Dying, while tracks 6 through 11 are performed by the now defunct American Tragedy.
As I Lay Dying offer five exquisite tracks that find the group venturing past the concise song formats and exploring wider ranges of time and brutality to form to their liking. American Tragedy's six songs also offer blistering technical fury at its most raw. This is not an album for the meek, yet for those who like their metal as heavy as a tractor trailer full of concrete blocks, this is a must-have album.

Moments and In Between(American Tragedy). Be sure to pick this up if your a fan of the increasingly popular metalcore band As I Lay Dying. All of their tracks on here are fantastic although the only downside is getting stuck with the American Tragedy songs which I thought were terrible. So get this and enjoy their older work(although most of these are now on Frail Words Collapse). Be sure to listen to tracks 1 and 3 which are amazing.
Songs 1-5 are As I Lay Dying. Songs 6-11 are American Tragedy. How could I ever go back Back to the life Where I lived amongst the dead Who have forgotten how to feel And become slaves to memory And wishful thinking But your love has set me free As you awaken every star That has been sleeping In the constellation of my soul How could I. go back to live amongst the dead Those who imprisoned beauty I never want to leave your arms So I wait in hope for your embrace Illusions of what I thought was love Now I have clear sight to see That I have left nothing behind.
