Serious music lovers seem to be the only people outside of Spain who have heard of Benicàssim. Benicàssim is a small port town located in between Barcelona and Valencia and every year it plays host to a fantastic music festival. The four day event takes place in mid-July and predominately features alternative rock and electronic artists, but it’s also known to be a great place to rave. The event differs from the many music festivals who are restricted to a 2am curfew – here the music starts at 5pm and continues until early the next morning. It’s one of the few festivals in the world where you.

Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Primavera Sound and Ultra Europe are some of Europe's finest music festivals. Festival lineup: deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia, Cirez D & Adam Beyer, The Chemical Brothers, Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, Tiësto. Whatever flavour of electronic music you're into, you'll find more than you could ask for at Creamfields.

European festivals offer the best of both worlds: international DJs and live acts, plus you get a holiday out of it too. You just need to make the right choice for your summer rave-cation. From sizzling boat parties in Croatia to live music in historical cities and ancient coastal towns, the options are properly overwhelming. To help you out, we’ve shortlisted some of the best summer events taking place in Europe this summer, breaking them down by country. Get booking and you could soon find yourself a long way from the usual muddy British fields. RECOMMENDED: The best UK music festivals.

The band made their album debut in 1995 and got their mainstream breakthrough in 2000 with the hit single Girl in Oslo.
