In 1940, Betty Cody married Harold Breau, a musician who performed as Hal Lone Pine. The couple started performing together and she adopted the stage name of Betty Cody. Cody signed a contract with RCA Records in the early 1950s. In 1952 she had her hit in the . country charts with "Tom Tom Yodel". Her 1953 hit single "I Found Out More Than You Ever Knew" reached No. 10 on the Billboard country chart. Betty and Harold eventually divorced. Her eldest son, Lenny Breau, who had lived with his father, later moved to California. Lenny became a noted jazz guitarist. In 1984, Lenny Breau's dead body was found in a swimming pool. The death was ruled a murder and the case was never solved

Beyond Breau’s breath-taking skill, he was equally known for his gentle nature and warm smile. Born August 5, 1941, in Auburn, Maine, Breau came into a musical family; his parents, Harold Hal Lone Pine Breau and Betty Cody (Coté), were professional country singers who enjoyed a good measure of success in the northeastern . Lenny Breau began playing guitar at 8, and by 14 was picking lead, billed as Lone Pine Junior, in his parents’ band. The family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1957, where they continued performing and recording, and had their own radio show. Soon Breau was playing the prestigious Village Vanguard in New York City and appearing on network television shows like Jackie Gleason and Joey Bishop. When he returned to Canada he served as a session guitarist for CBC Radio and Television.

The anthology offers a sampling of songs Cody and Lone Pine recorded together and individually between 1950-1954, some of which ("Prince Edward Island Is Heaven to Me," " In Annapolis Valley") were aimed at the Canadian audience. I Heard the Bluebirds Sing," a song by fellow Canadian Hod Pharis, is heard here in a recording that predates the Browns' definitive hit version by several years.
