Complete your Grateful Dead collection. Only problem I found with this is the foldout, seems the manufacturer used rubber cement on the black pyramid foldout portion of the gatefold and it ripped a little when fully folded out so now I have to probably permanently fix it with a stronger glue which prevents it from being folded up again, but for the time period and money it's.
Marking the thirtieth anniversary of its historic 1978 concerts in Egypt, the Grateful Dead's two-CD/one-DVD Rocking The Cradle: Egypt 1978 documents the legendary performances in front of the pyramids at Giza. The CDs are compiled from performances recorded on September 15th and 16th, with the DVD taken from the September 16th show, during which there was a lunar eclipse . Though by no means The Dead's best live performances, Rocking The Cradle: Egypt 1978 is an enjoyable and sometimes dazzling concert album. It is different-unlike other released and unreleased Grateful Dead concerts-because the performance is out of the ordinary and unique.
When the Dead got home, however, they discovered that the tapes of all of the first night and part of the second were not useable because of technical problems.
Rocking the Cradle: Egypt 1978. In 2008, the idea of a rock band doing their proverbial thing in Egypt holds far less cache than it did 30 years prior. However, it was unquestionably a novel notion when the Grateful Dead sought to begin diplomatic talks between the . Government and Egyptian officials to allow for the band to bring their "long, strange trip" to Cairo's Gizah Sound & Light Theater in mid-September of 1978. Considering the precarious political state of the world at the time, it is a minor miracle that these shows came off at all.
