3rd Bass was an American hip-hop group that rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was notable for being one of the first successful interracial hip-hop groups. They dissolved in 1992 and again in 2000 after a short reunion . That same year-three years after The Cactus Album-the Beastie Boys retaliated against 3rd Bass on Check Your Head; the track "Professor Booty" contained the lyric "dancing around like you think you're Janet Jackson," which was interpreted as a swipe at Serch's dancing in 3rd Bass's videos.

With your kick AND bass soloed, adjust the level of the bass so that the VU meter is consistently hitting around 0dB. This works because the intensity of sound doubles with every incremental increase of 3dB. So the bass matches the average loudness of the kick. You could start with the kick at -10dB on the VU meter and aim to get the VU touching -7dB when both the kick and bass are combined to achieve the same result. This technique will work as long as the VU meter shows a 3dB increase after the bass has been soloed alongside the kick. Its worth remembering that VU meters were built for the analogue world and therefore the numbers don't represent the same information when compared to digital peak meters as found in your digital audio workstation. This trick to balance the low end is a Jacquire King technique (brilliantly explained by The Recording Revolution in this video).
With the bass guitar and the kick drum we have a similar problem. We have the low end spectrum, from approximately 50 Hz upwards to 100 Hz that both instruments like playing with. But we need to separate the frequency spectrum between them, making each instrument play in a separate part of the spectrum. The original, somewhat unmixed clip of the kick drum and bass guitar sounds something like this: They are cluttering up each other's space. They both retain their character but they just don't clash as much. This is what we end up with. A bass guitar and kick drum that play in unison without interfering with each other. Trick 2: Ducking the Bass Guitar. Another popular thing to do is to use a compressor's side chaining feature to duck the bass behind the bass drum. The compressor becomes aware of each kick drum hit and compresses the bass guitar whenever the kick drum is playing.
The bass guitar and the kick drum are among the two most important instruments in music. Even if they aren't present, some other instrument will be playing their roles, because without the fundamentals, you're building your song on sand and the tide is coming in. Throughout history and even more so in the current musical culture, these two key segments of a song's instrumentation have been used to establish drive and and reiterate the chordal roots. Bass lines are generally build on the roots of chords, no matter the inversions, chord changes, key, or genre. A sustained bass note drives the root home for a length that allows harmony to be achieved in the long or short note-lengths of the higher frequency instruments. Without the root, you don't have a 3rd or a 5th. Without the root, you loose sense of the chord changes.
