Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is the fifth full-length studio album by death metal band Morbid Angel. The Satanic themed lyrics of previous albums had been replaced with lyrics about the Old Ones, which would become the primary source of Morbid Angel's lyrical content from this point on. This is the first album to feature singer/bassist Steve Tucker, replacing David Vincent, and has some lyrical content written in Sumerian.
It is an FDR pressing (mastered from the original tapes) even though it doesn't say so in the catalogue info which is weird, but as soon as you play it (make sure to always clean your new vinyls before first playing them because all new vinyl comes with an anti-mold coating to go into stores) you will hear this beautiful album.
Matthew Toye Even on their fifth album Morbid Angel continued to define death metal. also marks Steve Tucker's first appearance with the band. Basically, with this album, Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, Trey Azagthoth and co. had the deck stacked against them on here. This is notable, because Formulas is not only a powerful return to form by the long-time masters, but it is also one of their best albums to boot. Make no mistake: Morbid Angel has always stood out from the pack when it comes to Floridian Death Metal, and Formulas Fatal to the Flesh most definitely is not a generic album. Admittedly, it is a very flawed album, because of the excessive filler interludes – which they totally fixed up on the following album – but the meat of this album ranks as some of this band’s finest moments musically.

One listen to Formulas Fatal to the Flesh makes that clear. At its core, it's death metal, but the group demonstrates more imagination and pure force than almost any of its contemporaries. Not only is Trey Azagthoth's guitar monstrously powerful, but the rhythm section of drummer Pete Sandoval and new bassist/vocalist Stephen Tucker manages to be simultaneously nimble and pummeling. Also, the group has written some of their strongest songs to date - nothing here relies on pure riffage alone. The end result of the musical and writing vision is one hell of an album and possibly their.
Album (Studio full-length). Still doing really strong after a major lineup change, Morbid Angel's F album proved to be an A. It's brutal and damaging to your ears as always, making an overall amazing album. Some of the songs' intros are really "evil". Excellent!!! Megametal (80/100).
