Meanwhile, CBGB became famed for the Misfits, Television, Patti Smith Group, Mink DeVille, the Dead Boys, the Dictators, the Fleshtones, the Voidoids, the Cramps, the B-52's, Blondie, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Shirts, and Talking Heads. Yet in the 1980s, hardcore punk's New York underground was CBGB's mainstay. The Bon Jovi track "What's Left of Me" on the album What About Now cries, "Why they sold off CBGB's I don't understand". In the movie Sex and the City 2, Carrie Bradshaw's flashback finds her first meeting Samantha while Samantha was working as a bartender at CBGB. The feature length documentary, awesomely directed by David Koslwoski and Skizz Cyzyk and produced by 120dB Films and Duotone Films, was released for our 25th anniversary. The legendary NYC punk rock group celebrates its 25th anniversary with a documentary including interviews with Jello Biafra, Greg Werckman, and many others.

I was confused whether the stage was ac It's a great little nostalgia book, full of photos, and little stories of famous musicians and their first time at said venue, but that's about it. Great as a catalog to remember the venue by. I am interested in seeing the layout of the venue in it's prime, as everyone in the book points out to the 'great sound' it had. While the historically minded rock fan is doubtless aware that punk rock was born and bred in the United States, many passing observers still seem to think that English bands such as the Sex Pistols and the Clash dreamed the stuff up all on their own, neatly ignoring the fact that the Velvet Underground, the Stooges, MC5, and the New York Dolls. blocked out the blueprints years before, and the Ramones created the first working template while Malcolm McLaren was still selling clothes to Teddy Boys. The album is hampered by several odd track choices, many of which seem to be the product of licensing problems.
