Their second album, Like to Get to Know You, was released in April 1968. Two singles were released: "Sunday Mornin'" in the winter, which reached No. 30 on February 10–17, 1968, and "Like to Get to Know You" in the spring, which reached No. 17 on June 8, 1968. The latter single's B-side, "Three Ways From Tomorrow", also received considerable airplay. Because of the band's continued popularity, Mercury released album collections of their greatest hits in 1969 (Spanky's Greatest Hit(s)), 1989's budget (Give a Damn), and 2005's (The Best of Spanky & Our Gang: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection)

Spanky and Our Gang (album). PagesPublic panky & Our Gang. The premature death of Hale in 1968 undermined the group’s inner confidence, and any lingering momentum faltered when ‘Give A Damn’, a campaign song for the Urban Coalition League, incurred an airplay ban in several states.
Often Spanky and Our Gang would sing what I call "erratic" for parts of the song. Background singings delievering their own separate message, yet all portions pulling together in what seems to me fabulous harmony. Nothing really "erratic" about it. Despit the fact that Elaine MacFarland was the lead singer, and the fact that she was a really good one, the whole group was a well-oiled machine. She really did not stand out as the lead so much despite her talent -with the talent that supported her. I do not know if this song was around before the group. Most popular lyric tags.
