What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers. The album was released on February 1, 1974, by Warner Bros. Tom Johnston's "Another Park, Another Sunday" was chosen to be the album's first single. It's about losing a girl," stated Johnston. I wrote the chords and played it on acoustic, and then Ted had some ideas for it, like running the guitars through Leslie speakers.

Written-By – Patrick Simmons (tracks: A4, B1, B2, B5), The Doobie Brothers (tracks: A6), Tiran Porter, Tom Johnston (tracks: A1 to A3, A5, B3, B4). Notes. W2750 on spine W 2750 on back sleeve & label Recorded at Warner Bros.

Actually, in some respects, given the range of instruments employed here, including an autoharp (courtesy of Arlo Guthrie) and viola, the songs on the original LP's first side suffer somewhat from a sameness that makes What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits a little less interesting than the albums that preceded it. The original side two had a lot more variety, which is as good as any full album the band ever recorded: Simmons' "Tell Me What You Want (And I'll Give You What You Need)" and Johnston's "Another Park, Another Sunday," which both outdo the Eagle.

What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits. Then and now, I feel it's a great song from a very good album. Personally, I'd love to hear a . version of this disc, but I must say MFSL's stereo version is a huge improvement over the original vinyl album and the compact disc. This album always had a kind of muted sound; I've always wondered if it wasn't a bit under-recorded. Black Water" is a song recorded by the American music group The Doobie Brothers from their 1974 album What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits: the track - which features its composer Patrick Simmons on lead vocals - in mid-March 1975 became the first of the two Doobie Brothers' hit singles. Well, I built me a raft and she's ready for floatin' Ol' Mississippi, she's callin' my name Catfish are jumpin', that paddle wheel thumpin' Black water keep rollin' on past just the same.

My version of the UK pressing has the warner bros logo at the end of the wording "A WARNER COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY". The original UK pressing listed on discogs does not. Does anyone else have the same?
