Return of the Century. 80. American Football.
It's a deeply weird and idiosyncratic album that can't neatly be compared to our previous work. It's also a concept record of sorts, but we like to leave those details to the imagination. Having shelved the romantic drama and shed two founding members, The 1900s seized the opportunity to update the core elements of their sound.
Instead, Return of the Century is their most impressive record and shows that they were able to turn personal and professional turmoil into a work with great artistic merit. The album is loosely based around the tale of Christina Licorice McKechnie, who was a member of the Incredible String Band and after a rather tumultuous stretch of living, disappeared without a trace. The songs have a suitably mysterious quality, revolving around themes of loss, escape, and heartache but never becoming too narrative.
End of the Century is the fifth studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released on February 4, 1980, through Sire Records. The album was the band's first produced by Phil Spector, though he had offered the band his assistance earlier in their career. With Spector fully producing the album, it was the first release that excluded original member Tommy Ramone, who in 1978 left the band but produced their previous album Road to Ruin.
Return of the Century - Fairly Good, Based on 5 Critics. After losing a couple founding members of the group and revamping the ornately arranged chamber pop sound of its early records in favor of something more simple, the 1900s' second full-length could have been a disaster. Instead, Return of the Century is their most impressive record and shows that they were able to turn personal and professional turmoil into a work with great artistic merit. The 1900s have slimmed down since their 2007 album Cold & Kind. They’ve lost two founding members and, in the three years since that record honed their heavily orchestrated sound into a humbler, more streamlined brand of pop music. Their indelible hooks remain-remember When I Say Go ?-but the landscape around them has a much narrower scope and a little more space for the players to work in.

The 1900s’ second record, Return of the Century, seems refreshing in its straight-faced sunniness
Crime of the Century is the third studio album by the English rock band Supertramp, released in September 1974 on A&M Records. Crime of the Century was Supertramp's commercial breakthrough in both the US and UK, aided by the UK hit "Dreamer" and the US hit "Bloody Well Right". Photographer Paul Wakefield did his first album work by photographing the cover of Crime of the Century. A&M Records art director Fabio Nicoli invited Wakefield to the studio where Supertramp were recording and had him read the lyrics. With the album title already chosen, Wakefield started asking himself "what an appropriate sentence could be for 'the crime of the century'" and combined it with a line of "Asylum", when they haunt me and taunt me in my cage.
