Every song has a different feel to it BUT I have just got the Japanese version and it shits allover the British release, every different version of tracks that are on the Japanese version are a lot better.

The Orb - Bicycles & Tricycles When it comes to veteran producers in the Electronic music scene, they don’t come much bigger then The Orb. The Orb have been at it since the late 1980’s, where they exploded onto the scene with a beautiful piece of electronic ambience with ‘A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld’, a track that was much more then an exhaustingly long title. The album starts quite nicely with the very groovy Orb Is, a journey of broken beats and deep gritty baselines. Land of Green Ginger is also an early highlight in the album, again with smooth baselines chugging along nicely, combined with a fantastic array of sounds and effects.

So, upon first listen, Bicycles & Tricycles seemed instantly seductive with its harrowingly anachronistic synth washes, four-on-the-floor dub, quotes from those BBC Fairy Tale Hour shows, and the interstellar mind-freezes. However, on the third or fourth listen, I realized I didn't exactly like the songs as much as I liked the idea of someone making them. My relationship to The Orb is a lot like my relationship to Beyoncé or Willie Nelson. It's 80s techno to the point of self-delusion. If you've ever enjoyed an Orb song, there's no possible way you could be entirely disappointed by this album. It's resolutely affixed to the past, and while it's not nearly as liberal in its portions of psychedelic ambiance as their greatest works, it's at least par with Cydonia.

Bicycles & Tricycles perfectly demonstrates why The Orb are still masters of the beautifully chilled and deconstructed dub. Although not as raw and earthy as their early 'experimental' material, it is representative of where enthralling electronica currently resides.

Bicycles & Tricycles is the sixth studio album from The Orb. It brought together The Orb's style of the early 1990s with current electronic music to mixed reactions. The Daily Telegraph praised Bicycles & Tricycles as being "inclusive, exploratory, and an enjoyable journey"; however, many other publications dismissed it as "stoner dub" and largely irrelevant to current electronic music culture.
