Lyrics to "Southern Man" song by The Dave Clark Five: Southern man, better keep your head Don't forget what your good book said Southern change gonna come. I saw cotton and I saw black Tall white mansions and little shacks Southern man, when will you pay them back? I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking How long? How long? How? Southern man, better keep your head Don't forget what your good book said Southern change gonna come at last Now your crosses are burning fast Southern man. Lily Belle, your hair is golden brown I've seen your black man comin' round Swear by God I'm gonna cut him down I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking How long? How long? How?

The Dave Clark Five (DC5) was an English rock and roll group of the 60s, known as one of the few that were able to present something of a commercial threat to The Beatles, the dominant group of the period, during the beat music craze. They were, in fact, the second group of the 'British Invasion' after the Beatles to have a chart hit in America with "Glad All Over", a sort of 'signature song' of the band that continues to receive airplay.
The self-titled Dave Clark Five & Friends LP came out in the . in 1972, but was never issued in the . making it perhaps the rarest of all DC5-related albums.
