Sounds Orchestral was a British studio-based easy listening group, assembled by John Schroeder with Johnny Pearson in 1964. John Schroeder had worked with Johnny Pearson previously over at Oriole Records, producing Johnny Pearson's first solo album. Moving to Pye, Schroeder was quick to assemble the line-up which would become Sounds Orchestral, intended to be a competitor group to EMI's successful Sounds Incorporated.
Marvin Gaye originally released Ain't That Peculiar written by Marvin Tarplin, Warren Moore, Smokey Robinson and Bobby Rogers and Marvin Gaye released it on the single Ain't That Peculiar in 1965. It was also covered by Alexis Korner, Sounds Orchestral featuring Johnny Pearson, 藤井麻輝, Ryuichi, Smokey Robinson & James Taylor and other artists. It is sampled by Oddisee. John Valmore Pearson (18 June 1925 – 20 March 2011), known as Johnny Pearson, was a British composer, orchestra leader and pianist. He led the Top of the Pops orchestra for sixteen years, wrote a catalogue of library music, and had many of his pieces used as the theme music to television series. Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Johnny Pearson showed talent with the piano at an early age. By nine, he had won a scholarship with the London Academy of Music.
